Start normalizing self- talk! Talking to yourself isn’t a sign of mental illness! Ever caught self- talking by your mom or sibling? Well, it’s not an issue to be embarrassed of. Self- talking has always been an integral part of my journey right from my childhood till today. Having an extremely imaginative and a curious mind, I often self talk aloud without realizing that I might scare someone away thinking I am chatting with a ghost. My entire childhood was spent mostly in my own little room imagining myself as a teacher with my thousand invisible students. The self-talking part didn’t even begin yet I was already in my shoes ready to fall into this whole addiction. Gradually, as I enter the phase of adulthood, this obsession has increased to a huge extent. I won’t deny that this obsession has resulted in reflecting upon my actions and the issues surrounding me and the world. I usually day dream and ponder upon a lot of issues relating to people that I have met or video...

Attending a Kpop concert in India? - A cultural reset! How does it feel when I mention Kpop and India together? It is a major achievement for Indian Kpop fans. When I attended a Kpop concert in my hometown last year, it still felt surreal. I guess every Indian Kpop lover would relate to this feeling when you are not used to seeing Korean artists performing or even talking about India. Kpop or the Korean pop music has played a pivotal role in spreading the essence of Korean culture across the globe. The Korean entertainment industry be it K dramas, movies and Kpop has attracted fans from every corner to the extent that many people visit South Korea only for that purpose. However, the story is totally different in India. With the strong presence of Bollywood, Kpop is a far cry in India. Apart from the Northeastern states, the rest of the Indian population is hardly interested on the Asian culture. Gradually things have taken a new direction when a lot of scattered Kp...

Living in Delhi- a hassle or a pleasure? Living in Delhi is probably my biggest adventure as a girl from Assam. Delhi is often infamously known as the “rape capital” of the Indian subcontinent. It is definitely true to a large extent given the amount of crimes and especially rapes that has happened on this city. It is indeed a huge burden to stay alone in this capital city but I will never deny the enjoyment and delights that this city has given me. Delhi has literally shaped my identity and has made me confident. I was just a shy introvert and a homebody who was scared of even leaving my house without my parents. The fact that I decided to study and live in Delhi on my own was probably the first brave step that I took. My parents were really skeptical about sending me but I guess I was destined for this. I still recall the day. It was the month of July in the year of 2011, which marks my first entry into the capital city not as a tourist but to live there on my own. ...

Make Japan your next travel bucket list Ever thought about making a trip to Japan? Trust me guys, it is worthwhile and one of the best places to ever exist on this planet. We often think of Europe or the US, when we dream about travelling to foreign locations. Definitely, these places seem inviting, with the amount of exposures in movies. Also, thanks to all those travel sites which offer stunning European tourism packages for honeymoon, anniversary, birthday and the list goes on. Of course, I won’t blame others since I am myself a product of such thoughts. I often used to annoy my parents in taking one of these “Europe trips”, as if it’s some sort of an achievement or something. But looking back, it made me realize that how narrow minded I am. It was only in 2016, I discovered my inner fangirl moment for Asian movies, dramas and most importantly Kpop. This led to a whole 360% change in my outlook. There was something about their culture, language and the places which made ...

How to unlock your inner creativity In a word filled with competition and challenges on every stage, personal development is something that we tend to leave unexplored. We are constantly running after our supposed “goals”, in the hope of strengthening our career. But do we all realize that we are lacking something on our own personal level? Let’s assume that we have found our goal. For example, a person A is ecstatic after scoring excellent marks in their final exams. When asked about their goals, their answer would generally be aiming to be a doctor, an engineer, or securing admissions in IIT and so on. However; a few years later, the same person is found in a depressed state, struggling to barely survive the tough race of the career world. Although we cannot generalize every person on the same level but there has been several cases where once a person who was bright, intelligent and full of spirit changed drastically, giving up every hope in life. This is the m...
